Biographical entry: Hiele, George Angono

After gaining his Cambridge School Certificate at King George VI School (q.v.) in Auki in 1963, George Angono Hiele attended Whanganui Boys College. In 1966 he enrolled at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, but he did not complete his degree. He went on to become a senior public servant and diplomat. He was Consul in Brisbane, Queensland in the 1990s, and most recently was Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade.
