Francis Bagi Namaleg was one of the first indigenous agricultural officers. He was born in 1944, the son of Francis Namaleg of Arosi on Makira, who was a Guamanian of part-Filipino ancestry. Francis studied at St. Joseph's School at Tenaru, and then obtained his diploma at the Agricultural Training College in Kukum in 1962. He worked in the Santa Cruz Islands until he died on 28 February 1967, survived by a wife and infant daughter. (NS 7 Mar 1967, 7 May 1967)
